Description: This quick and easy pizza flavored toast will satisfy your pizza cravings in a fraction of the time it takes to make homemade pizza or order delivery.

Yield: Serves 2-4

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices sourdough bread

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

  • ½ cup pepper jack cheese, shredded

  • 12-16 slices of pepperoni (3-4 slices per slice of bread)

  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes

  • ½ tsp dried basil

  • 3-4 fresh basil leaves, sliced into ribbons

  • ¼ cup of Pizza Sauce

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Add the bread to the baking sheet and brush both sides lightly with the melted butter. Sprinkle the top with some dried basil and hot pepper flakes.

Toast the bread without toppings first for 5 minutes to start crisping the bread up.

Remove from oven. Smooth on 1 tbsp of the pizza sauce per slice of bread, then add the cheese and top with pepperoni.

Return to oven, and bake for 5 minutes more, or until the cheese has melted and browned and pepperoni has crisped up a bit. Sprinkle on some fresh basil on top and return to the oven just for a minute to wilt the basil a bit.

Remove the bread from the oven. Allow to cool for a minute or so. Enjoy!!

Note:

There was SUPPOSED to be 4 pieces of pizza bread for the photo, however……I started chowing down on it before realizing I hadn’t taken the dang photo yet lol.
