Description: When I want a little less caffeine for my mornings, Black tea is my go-to and I jazz it up a bit by making this Black tea “latte” sweetened with brown sugar and a touch of cinnamon!

Yield: Recipe makes 1 cup of tea

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (16 ounces) water

  • 2 black tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose leaf black tea

  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar, or to taste

  • 1/2 cup milk (or non-dairy milk)

  • 1 tablespoon cream (or non-dairy cream)

  • Pinch of Ground Cinnamon, garnish

Directions

Add water to a pot and quickly bring to a boil over high heat. Pour 1/2 of the hot water in an empty mug to warm it up for 30 seconds, then discard the water when the cup is hot to the touch.

Now, prep your serving mug with the tea to brew. Pour the remaining hot water over the tea in the mug and brew according to the tea directions.

While the tea is brewing, add the milk and cream to the same pot. Quickly bring it back to a boil over high heat, then turn off the heat. At this point, you could use a milk frother and froth the milk for a few seconds to add some foam if preferred.

Remove tea bags (or strain out the loose tea leaves) and stir in the brown sugar until dissolved. Alternatively, you can use brown sugar syrup.

Pour warmed into the mug with the sweetened tea, then add a pinch of cinnamon on top if preferred. Enjoy!
